B20 Head on a B18 Block?

I have a '65 1800S with a B18 and ipd Weber conversion. The engine needs a valve job, so I was wondering if it is possible to retrofit a B20 head on the B18. The fuel injection ports need to be plugged up on the B20, but should it work? Would the larger intake valves improve performance?

Phil says: Unfortunately, this swap is not a good idea on its own. You do not want to put large-diameter combustion chambers on narrower cylinder bores. On a B20 block (or a B18 that has been overbored to accept B20 pistons), using a fuel-injection head can indeed result in increased performance when used in conjunction with a proper cam, induction and exhaust system (and that's a huge subject!).
